Bruce Hornsby plans summer tour to back forthcoming album

Bruce Hornsby , who recently signed a deal with Columbia Records, will release his first album for the label this summer, and will support the set with a summer road trip.

Though the album, titled "Halycon Days," doesn't arrive in stores until Aug. 10, Hornsby plans to launch the outing in mid-July, and is scheduled to hit venues throughout the U.S. until late August. Details are shown below.

The singer/songwriter, who penned all 11 tracks on "Halycon Days," re-teamed with producer Wayne Pooley for the set; Pooley first worked with Hornsby on 1993's "Harbor Lights." Guests featured on the album--which is Hornsby's ninth full-length--include Eric Clapton, Elton John and Sting.

Additional details about the album, including a complete track listing, are posted at Hornsby's website.

In 1986, Hornsby and his band, The Range, burst onto the scene with their debut album, "The Way It Is." The triple-platinum set spawned three Top 20 hits, including the No. 1 title track, and earned Bruce Horsnby & the Range the Grammy award for Best New Artist.

The eight albums Hornsby has released to date have sold a combined total of more than 10 million copies worldwide, according to Columbia.
