Bryan Adams plots North American tour dates

Though he hasn't released a new album in six years, Bryan Adams maintains a busy tour schedule, as evidenced by his imminent plans for a North American outing.

Adams launches a seven-date tour of the western U.S. tonight, which includes five California stops, as well as one-off shows in Las Vegas and Camp Verde, AZ. He then heads across the pond for a European outing before returning to North America for a July tour of his native Canada and an August tour of the northeastern U.S.

Adams has not released a new solo album since 1998's "On a Day Like Today." The singer/guitarist did, however, contribute 15 new songs to the 2002 soundtrack for the Disney film "Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron."

A spokesperson said in March that Adams was working on a new album that would likely surface later this year, but no additional information has surfaced.

Last June, Adams offered up a new set titled "Live at the Budokan," a two-DVD and single-CD collection that captures his June 2000 performance at the famous Japanese venue.

Adams rose to fame in the '80s, and is best known for a catalog of hits that includes "Straight from the Heart," "Cuts Like a Knife," "This Time," "Run to You," "Summer of '69" and "It's Only Love" and "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You."
