Lollapalooza itinerary surfaces, main and second stage lineups set
Organizers have unveiled the itinerary for this summer's Lollapalooza tour, and have also nailed down the main-stage and second-stage rosters.
The 14-city tour--which plays two days at each stop--begins in Auburn, WA, on July 14-15, and is scheduled to work its way around the U.S. before wrapping up in Dallas, TX, on Aug. 24-25. The outing also makes a lone Canadian stop in Toronto on Aug. 5-6.
Gracing the main stage's day-one bill are Morrissey , Sonic Youth , Le Tigre, Modest Mouse, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; String Cheese Incident , The Flaming Lips , Gomez and The Polyphonic Spree take over the main stage during day two.
The second stage, meanwhile, will feature Broken Social Scene, The Walkmen, Wolf Eyes, Danger Mouse, The Datsuns and Sparta on day one; and The Thrills, The Fire Theft, The Coup, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Elbow and Wheat on day two.
A tour press release noted that certain second-stage acts will appear only on select dates, but did not provide specifics. Full details of each tour stop's final lineup will be "unveiled in the coming weeks," according to organizers.
Appearing both days is DJ Peretz--a.k.a. Lollapalooza co-founder/Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell--who will be "spinning his patented brand of organic electro-dub-breakbeat grooviness in Lollapalooza's ever-popular Chill Tent."
Main-stage guests scheduled to turn up on select dates include The Pixies, who will perform on day one of the tour's July 22-23 stop in Ventura, CA, and will headline day two of the tour's Aug. 16-17 stop at Randalls Island, NY; and Wilco, which has signed on for Aug. 3 in Clarkston, MI; Aug. 6 in Toronto; and Aug. 10 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
PJ Harvey will also grace the day-one roster on several not-yet-announced dates.
More information about the tour is posted at Lollapalooza's website.
