Lyle Lovett packs his summer itinerary with dozens of dates

Singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett has been squeezing many more dates into his previously announced 2004 tour, and is now scheduled to visit more than 40 North American cities between June and October.

The Texas native continues to support his latest album, last year's Grammy-nominated "My Baby Don't Tolerate."

Lovett is scheduled to leave his Large Band behind on his upcoming dates, and instead will travel with a scaled-back group. The itinerary opens in mid-June with a pair of co-headlining shows with John Hiatt, Joe Ely and Guy Clark, but Lovett will be the sole act on the bill on most dates.

"My Baby Don't Tolerate," Lovett's inaugural effort for Lost Highway Records, is his first collection of original solo material since 1996's "The Road to Ensenada." It followed his February 2003 release, "Smile," a collection of 12 songs that he recorded for various movie soundtracks during the past decade.

Lovett's 1989 album "Lyle Lovett & His Large Band" earned him a Grammy in the Best Country Vocal Performance, Male, category. "My Baby Don't Tolerate" picked up Grammy nominations in the Best Country Album and Best Country Vocal, Male, categories.
