Counting Crows peck out more summer tour dates
Counting Crows , who have a new song headed to radio stations next month, continue to fill their calendar with summer concerts.
The group hits the U.S. circuit in late June, and dates now stretch into late July. Plans also include a lone August performance at the Camp Jeep Festival in Santa Inez, CA; the group plays the automaker's East Coast festival in Charlottesville, VA, on July 17.
Counting Crows so far have focused their 2004 touring efforts outside the U.S., but that will change in late June, when the Adam Duritz-led pop-rockers open a tour focusing on outdoor venues in California and Nevada.
Fans can expect to hear the group's forthcoming single, "Accidentally in Love," which the band recently recorded for the forthcoming "Shrek 2" soundtrack. Brendan O'Brien produced the cut.
The song is scheduled to surface at radio stations on May 3, and the soundtrack hits stores on May 11. Meanwhile, members of Counting Crows' fan club can download the song now, and the iTunes Music Store will begin selling the track on Thursday (4/29), according to Counting Crows' website.
In addition to their tour plans, Counting Crows are scheduled to appear on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on May 26, and on "The Today Show" on May 28.
Last year, Counting Crows released "Films About Ghosts," a collection of previously released hits from the group's four studio albums. Also included is the hard-to-find track "Einstein on the Beach," a cover of The Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil" and the new original song "She Didn't Want Nobody Near."
The group's most-recent studio release is 2002's "Hard Candy," which features a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi." Vanessa Carlton guests on the cut.
