Cat Power plots West Coast tour, readies new DVD
Cat Power --a.k.a. singer/songwriter Chan Marshall--continues to support last year's "You Are Free" with a round of West Coast shows, and plans to offer up a new DVD this summer.
Marshall kicks things off with solo performances in Tucson, AZ, and Pioneertown, CA, on May 18 and 21, respectively, then teams up with her backing band for shows in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
She closes out the month with a May 28 solo performance in Portland, OR, and a May 29 set at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington State.
Additionally, Marshall is booked to give a May 11 solo performance at a benefit in New York City--dubbed The NYC F--- Cancer Benefit--that will include additional performances from Har Mar Superstar, Quintron and Miss Pussycat; as well as a May 18 headlining solo set in Tucson, AZ.
Marshall's latest album, "You Are Free," surfaced in early 2003. She recorded the set in 2002 with engineer Adam Kaspar (Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters), according to Matador Records.
This summer, Matador Records plans to release a new DVD titled "A Film by Mark Borthwick" that will feature more than two hours of footage Borthwick shot of Marshall, as well as a previously unreleased video for the song "Free." The release will also include a 40-page book and a bonus CD featuring a new, unreleased, 19-minute track, according to Matador's website.
