Travis Tritt plots tour, readies new album

Travis Tritt takes to the road this spring, and will remain on the tour trail through the summer months, a season that will also see the release of the country singer's latest album.

Tritt has a pair of late-April shows planned, but his tour bus will log most of its miles in May, June, July and August. A few September and October performances are also planned.

The outing follows this month's release of Tritt's latest single, "The Girl's Gone Wild," which will appear on his new album, "My Honky Tonk History." Tritt hasn't announced a specific release date for the set, but his website says it's "scheduled for release mid-summer."

The album is the follow-up to 2002's "Strong Enough."

Fans hoping to have an offstage encounter with the singer during the upcoming tour might want to curb their expectations; in a message that he recently posted at his website, Tritt offered an explanation to fans who had apparently been complaining on the site's message board about their inability to meet him in person.

"I know that at every show, practically everyone in the audience would like to have the opportunity to meet me in person," he wrote. "The fact is that I would love to meet my fans as well. I do, in fact, enjoy the opportunity to meet some of you through radio station and other contests, but the problem is that with thousands of people at every show, there just isn't enough time for me to meet with everyone."

Tritt went on to say that he had curtailed meet-and-greets with fans because of "death threats that I have received in the past year."
