The B-52's gear up for spring and summer concert dates
The group has a handful of April and May shows scheduled, and additional dates stretch into early September; the bulk of the currently confirmed shows are concentrated in June and July.
The B-52's issued their most-recent set of all-new material, "Good Stuff," in 1992. That album is the follow-up to 1989's "Cosmic Thing," which spawned the group's best-known hit, "Love Shack," as well as "Roam" and "Deadbeat Club."
A number of best-of sets have surfaced in the interim, including 1998's "Time Capsule" and 2002's "Nude on the Moon: The B-52's Anthology."
Guitarist Keith Strickland--one of the group's founding members--said in a message posted at the band's website late last year that the group is "in the writing process again, but you can't rush genius (LOL)."
Strickland, bouffant-wigged singers Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, Cindy's older brother and guitarist Ricky Wilson, and singer Fred Schneider formed The B-52's in the mid-'70s. They got their first break with the club hit "Rock Lobster."
Ricky Wilson died of AIDS in 1985, and the group subsequently took a break before soldiering on with "Cosmic Thing," which remains its most commercially successful album to date.
