Morrissey ushers in new album with live dates
Morrissey precedes the release of his first new studio album in seven years with a short string of small-venue concerts.
The ex-Smiths frontman is scheduled give mid-April performances in Las Vegas and Anaheim, CA, followed by five-night runs in Los Angeles and New York City..
The concerts herald the May 18 release of "You Are the Quarry," Morrissey's first new studio set since 1997's "Maladjusted." The set features the single "Irish Blood, English Heart," which is due in stores on May 10, according to Morrissey's website.
Known for his characteristically depressing lyrics, Morrissey describes "You Are the Quarry" as a comparatively more-upbeat collection.
"There are no links to the past," Morrissey said in statement. "This is a much brighter sounding album, than much of my previous work. We've turned the page with 'Quarry.' It's a dynamic album and I couldn't be any happier."
Morrissey's post-album-release tour plans include a slot on this summer's Lollapalooza bill.
