Journey continues playing hits during summer headlining run
The band launches its headlining trip with a two-night stand in Temecula, CA, on June 11-12, and dates for the run stretch well into August.
"Journey's Greatest Hits DVD 1978-1997" surfaced in late November, features live performances and music-video versions of many of the band's hits, with an emphasis on late-'70s and early-'80s material such as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wheel in the Sky," "Any Way You Want It" and "Open Arms."
The aforementioned hits all feature ex-frontman Steve Perry, who left the group following the release of 1996's "Trial by Fire."
Current vocalist Steve Augieri took over, and was first featured on the cut "Remember Me," which the group contributed to the 1998 soundtrack for the film "Armageddon."
Original members Neil Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass), along with longtime members Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jonathan Cain (keyboards), round out the lineup.
Journey's most-recent release is "Red 13," a four-song EP that surfaced in 2002. MP3 samples of all four tracks are posted at the group's website.
The band's most-recent full-length album is 2001's "Arrival." No word yet on when the next full-length set might surface.
