Briefly: Paul McCartney, Usher, David Bowie, Dominic Miller
Paul McCartney reportedly played a surprise set on Monday (3/31) at the Lake Tahoe area's Moody's Bistro and Lounge in Truckee, CA.
The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported that McCartney joined regular Moody's performers George Souza and Joe and Caleb Dolister to perform a couple of songs for a surprised audience of about 70.
McCartney, who made a surprise appearance at the same club during a Tahoe vacation last year, reworked the blues classic "Kansas City" into "Tahoe City," and also played the jazz standard "Don't Get Around Much Anymore."
With nearly 1.1 million albums sold--the best single-week showing to date this year--R&B singer Usher 's "Confessions" easily tops the new Billboard 200 chart, Billboard reports.
Two other new releases--the hits compilation "NOW That's What I Call Music! Vol. 15" and Guns N' Roses' "Greatest Hits"--enter the chart at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. "Let's Talk About It," the sophomore release from R&B singer Carl Thomas, bows at No. 4.
The six-week stay at No. 1 for Norah Jones ' "Feels Like Home" is finally over; the set dips to No. 5 on the latest album chart.
David Bowie is scheduled to appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 21, performing "Never Get Old." He also plans to tape an episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which will air on April 26. Bowie is currently touring North America.
Dominic Miller , who has been the featured guitarist in Sting's band since 1989, has been tapped to open this summer's Sting/Annie Lennox co-headlining tour. Miller is backing his debut solo album, "Shapes."
