Tony Bennett hashes out spring and summer concert plans
New York-born crooner Tony Bennett , whose 50-plus-year music career now has netted him an even dozen Grammy Awards, is set to play scattered North American concert dates through the spring and summer.
Bennett's schedule currently shows him playing a mix of theater, casino and festival dates from April through September, though he's so far set to take a break for the month of July.
The legendary singer's latest Grammy came earlier this year, when he won in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for 2002's "A Wonderful World," an album of duets honoring Louis Armstrong that Bennett recorded with k.d. lang .
Bennett dedicated his Grammy to the late singer Rosemary Clooney, who was also nominated in the category. Bennett and Clooney were both signed to Columbia Records by Mitch Miller in 1950, and the two remained close friends until Clooney's death in 2002.
Clooney and Bennett have both been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards from The Recording Academy.
