Indigo Girls unveil second leg of Perfect World Tour
Duo Amy Ray and Emily Saliers--a.k.a. Indigo Girls --have mapped out the second leg of their in-progress Perfect World Tour.
The newly added stretch of shows kicks off in Jacksonville, FL, on March 31, and dates so far are set into early May.
Included in the itinerary is an April 4 performance on board a cruise ship in Key West. Details are available at the cruise's website.
The tour's first leg wraps up in St. Louis on March 20, after which Ray and Saliers head to Atlanta for a four-night stand at The Fox Theatre. There, they'll perform with the Atlanta Ballet during a production dubbed "Shed Your Skin." Additional information is posted at the event's website.
Indigo Girls are on the road in support of last month's "All That We Let In." Joining Ray and Saliers on the album is the pair's longtime backing band: bassist Clare Kenny, keyboardist Carol Isaacs and drummer Brady Blade.
Singer/pianist Joan Osborne contributes back-up vocals to three tracks.
In a noted change from past albums, Ray--who, until now, has limited her guitar playing to rhythm parts--played some solos during the recording sessions.
"I'm learning to play lead," she said in a statement. "When I hear something in my head, I want to play it the way I hear it."
Saliers, meanwhile--who has played dobro, banjo, bouzouki, classical guitar, piano, hurdy gurdy and guitar on prior albums--makes her mandolin and high-string guitar debuts on the "All That We Let In."
