Showtime sets live Britney Spears concert telecast
With the launch of Britney Spears ' 2004 tour just around the corner, cable-TV network Showtime has announced plans to televise of the pop diva's performances.
Spears' March 28 performance at Miami's American Airlines Arena will be presented by Showtime in High Definition and Dolby Digital Surround Sound 5.1, according to a press release. The show will air at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times.
Spears kicks off the tour--which she's dubbed the Onyx Hotel Tour--on Tuesday (3/2) in San Diego. It supports her new album, "In the Zone."
"I'm especially looking forward to bringing my tour to new markets and performing in front of fans that may not have had the opportunity to see any of my previous tours," Spears said in a statement.
Spears, who celebrated her 22nd birthday in December, last toured in 2002. The North American leg of that jaunt grossed more than $30 million, according to concert-industry magazine Pollstar.
Released on Nov. 18, "In the Zone" sold 609,000 copies during its first week in stores, and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The set marks Spears' fourth consecutive No. 1 album.
