Briefly: Juliana Hatfield, Courtney Love, Eminem, Kenny Chesney, Buddy Holly

Juliana Hatfield is set to drop "In Exile Deo," her first solo album since 2000's simultaneous releases "Beautiful Creature" and "Juliana's Pony: Total System Failure," on May 18.

According to Zoe/Rounder Records, the album features 13 new songs, most of which Hatfield wrote and produced herself. David Leonard (Avril Lavigne, Prince) co-produced and mixed two of the album's tracks, and David Way (Sheryl Crow, Madonna) mixed five songs.

Singer/guitarist Hatfield is backed on the album by Peter Adams (keyboards), Josh Lattanzi (bass), and Damon Richardson and Steve Scully (drums).

Though it's been four years since she released a solo album, Hatfield has remained active. In 2001, she reunited with the Blake Babies for a tour and a new album titled "God Bless the Blake Babies." In 2003, she launched Some Girls--a band that also features the Blake Babies' Freda Love and Heidi Gluck of The Pieces. Some Girls' debut release, "Feel It," hit stores last September.

Courtney Love , who had been scheduled to go to trial Monday (2/23) on a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance, is now set to go to trial on March 8. The judge granted the change after Love fired her lawyer, and her new lawyer said he needed time to familiarize himself with the case.

Eminem 's publishing company has filed suit against Apple Computer Inc., alleging that the company used the rapper's song "Lose Yourself" in a TV ad without permission.

In the ad, for Apple's iTunes software, a child sings a portion of "Lose Yourself" while listening to an iPod.

On March 6, Kenny Chesney and his band will appear on a two-hour edition of the A&E cable network's "A&E Live by Request," during which he'll take calls and requests from the audience.

Buddy Holly 's 1957 debut album has been digitally remastered and expanded to feature four bonus tracks. The set, which will be reissued as "The Chirping Crickets" on March 23, will include the album's 12 original tracks, as well as "Think It Over," "Fool's Paradise," "It's So Easy" and "Lonesome Tears."
