Wilco sets up road work in advance of Coachella fest

Wilco has mapped out a short trek through U.S. theaters that leads up to the group's May 1 appearance at Southern California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The concert appearances will precede the June 8 release of "A Ghost is Born," the band's fifth album and the follow-up to its critically lauded 2002 set, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

The group co-produced the new album with Jim O'Rourke, who engineered "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

Wilco will sport a slightly different lineup when it takes to the road. Earlier this year, the band announced the exit of multi-instrumentalist Leroy Bach. No replacement has been named.

Bach was involved in the recording of Wilco's 1999 album "Summerteeth," and was named an official member of the group before the release of 2002's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

The only remaining original members of Wilco are frontman/guitarist Jeff Tweedy and bassist Jon Stirratt. Drummer Glen Kotche replaced Ken Coomer before "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was recorded, and multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett exited after "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was completed.

Besides its stop at Coachella, Wilco is also scheduled to appear at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN, on June 11.
