Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott firm details for Ladies First tour
A spring outing featuring Beyoncé Knowles, Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott --three of the top R&B and pop acts of recent years--has been dubbed the Verizon Ladies First Tour, and up-and-comer Tamia has joined the bill.
The outing opens on March 12 in Sunrise, FL, and wraps up more than a month later in Oakland, CA.
Beyoncé's debut solo album, "Dangerously In Love," reached No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart last year, and earned the Destiny's Child member five Grammy awards on Sunday (2/8), including Best Contemporary R&B Album. Her five wins tied the record Lauryn Hill set in 1999--and Keys and Norah Jones later tied in 2001 and 2002, respectively--for the most Grammys won by a female artist in a single year.
Keys delivered her sophomore set, "The Diary of Alicia Keys," in December. The album debuted in the top slot on The Billboard 200 chart, thanks to first-week sales of about 618,000 copies. It is the follow-up to 2001's "Songs In A Minor," which earned the singer/songwriter/pianist a Best New Artist Grammy, along with four other trophies.
Elliott's fifth full-length, "This Is Not a Test!," arrived in stores last November, and features the cut "Pass That Dutch." The album is the follow-up to 2002's "Under Construction," which features the Grammy-winning cut "Work It."
Tamia, who was nominated for a Grammy this year but went home empty-handed, issues a new album titled "More" on April 6. It features the R. Kelly-produced single "Questions," as well as the hits "Officially Missing You" and "Into You."
