N.E.R.D. and Black Eyed Peas stir things up during spring tour
N.E.R.D. --side project of production duo Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, a.k.a. the Neptunes--delivers its sophomore album in March, and sets out that same month on a supporting tour that also features Black Eyed Peas .
Titled "Fly or Die," the forthcoming set is the follow-up to N.E.R.D.'s March 2002 debut, "In Search Of." The new album features the debut single "She Wants to Move," which is streaming at the band's website.
Black Eyed Peas are backing last year's "Elephunk." The album topped the British album chart, which band-member Taboo recently told liveDaily came as a surprise.
"When we make these records, we don't expect them to be No. 1," he said. "We don't expect the success of it because we go in thinking, 'This could be our last record so let's go out with a bang. Let's show the world we went out and we went out great.' Luckily, it's not going to be our last record. That's a great thing."
In related news, Williams is nominated for six GRAMMY® awards--including Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("Frontin'" and "Beautiful"), Best Rap Song ("Beautiful" and "Excuse Me Miss") and Producer of the Year--and Black Eyed Peas are vying for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("Where Is the Love?" with Justin Timberlake). The ceremony takes place on Feb. 8, and will air live on CBS.
The day before the GRAMMYs, N.E.R.D. and the Black Eyed Peas will perform at the 11th Annual Rock the Vote Awards at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. During the event, the Dixie Chicks will receive the Rock the Vote Patrick Lippert Award and Rock the Vote/Rhino Records founder Richard Foos will receive the Rock the Vote Founders Award. Details are available at the event's website.
