Briefly: Super Bowl, Master P, NBA All-Star Game, Bette Midler, BR549
Willie Nelson , Toby Keith and Josh Groban are the latest additions to the performance lineup from Super Bowl XXXVIII, which takes place on Feb. 1 at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
The three acts will perform during the pre-game festivities, along with Latin acts Walter Suhr and Mango Punch!, according to the NFL. Aerosmith will headline the pre-game show.
As previously reported, Beyonce will sing the National Anthem, and Janet Jackson, Kid Rock and Nelly will perform during the halftime show.
Rapper/impresario Master P , whose No Limit Records label has inked a new distribution deal with Koch Records, will issue a new 2-CD set titled "Good Side/Bad Side" on March 23. The album features the single "Them Jeans."
A limited-edition 3-disc set, which includes the CDs plus a DVD, also titled "Good Side/Bad Side," is also set for release on the same date.
Pre-game entertainers have been announced for the NBA All-Star Game, which takes place on Feb. 15 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be televised live on the TNT cable network.
OutKast will perform during the player introductions, Christina Aguilera will sing the U.S. National Anthem and Nelly Furtado will sing the Canadian anthem.
Bette Midler , whose CD "Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook" is nominated for a GRAMMY® award, told the Boston Globe she's "mortified" that her Clooney tribute album is competing in the same category as the late Clooney's album "The Last Concert."
"I'd really like Rosemary to win that GRAMMY," Midler reportedly said. "I can't believe I'm up against her. I'm going to look into withdrawing. I just think it's bad form if I won. You know, she never won a GRAMMY."
Country group BR549 issues a new album titled "Tangled in the Pines" on March 9. It marks the band's first album since the departure of original members Gary Bennett and Jay McDowell.
The group takes to the road this spring with The Mavericks, according to a press release.
