Norah Jones to release sophomore album in February
Norah Jones , whose GRAMMY-winning "Come Away With Me" made her a critical and commercial sensation, will release her follow-up set on Feb. 10.
Titled "Feels Like Home," the singer-pianist's sophomore effort features the single "Sunrise," which recently debuted on radio stations; the cut is available now at most commercial digital-download stores.
"Come Away With Me" producer Arif Mardin returned to work with Jones on the new set, as did bassist Lee Alexander and guitarists Adam Levy, Kevin Breit, Tony Scherr and Jesse Harris (who wrote and co-wrote a number of songs on "Come Away With Me"). Drummer Andrew Borger and background vocalist Daru Odam rounded out the studio ensemble.
Guests include Dolly Parton, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band, and jazz drummer Brian Blade.
"I'm glad that people liked the last album," Jones said in a statement. "It was where I was at the time, musically. This is where I am now. That's what a recording is for me, like a snapshot. We had so much fun making this record."
In April, Jones launches a European tour behind the new set. Details of that run, which stretches into late June, are posted at Jones' website. A summer tour of North American will likely follow.
Released in 2002, "Come Away With Me" earned Jones five GRAMMY® trophies: Album of the Year, Record of the Year (for "Don't Know Why"), Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for "Don't Know Why") and Best Pop Vocal Album. In addition, "Don't Know Why" won GRAMMYs for Song of the Year (awarded to the songwriter, Jesse Harris), Best Producer, non-classical (Mardin) and Best Engineered Album, non-classical (awarded to engineers Husky Huskolds, Mardin and Jay Newland).
