Kenny Chesney taps Uncle Kracker, Rascal Flatts for summer dates
Fellow country act Rascal Flatts joins Kenny Chesney during the summer months of his upcoming Guitars, Tiki Bars & Whole Lotta Love tour, with Kid Rock protégé Uncle Kracker also holding down a slot on the bill.
The second leg of Chesney's tour will visit outdoor venues from June through September. Dates and cities are noted in the itinerary below; venues haven't been announced.
"There's just something about making it a fun hang when you're playing those outdoor venues," Chesney said in a press release. "When you're putting together a hang--whether it's on the lawn or back in the parking lot behind the stage--you wanna have cool people who know how to kick back and just get their groove on. I think we've got a great line-up for this summer."
Besides serving as an opening act, Uncle Kracker will take the stage during Chesney's set to sing their duet, the title track to Chesney's forthcoming album "When the Sun Goes Down," due on Feb. 3.
Chesney launches the first leg his tour--which will play arenas--on March 18 in Lafayette, LA, a day after he makes an appearance at RodeoHouston. The previously announced spring leg, which runs through May, will feature Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley in the opening slots.
Ticket on-sale information hadn't been announced at press time.
According to concert industry magazine Pollstar, only Bruce Springsteen and the Dave Matthews Band sold more concert tickets than Chesney in 2003.
"When the Sun Goes Down," is Chesney's first collection of all-new material since his multi-platinum 2002 album, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems." The new set features Chesney's latest hit, "There Goes My Life."
"... This [new] record really suits what we're trying to do live," Chesney said in a statement. "So aside from some well-chosen surprises, people can expect the songs they love and some songs I know they're going to."
