Lynyrd Skynyrd keeps tour rolling in the New Year
Lynyrd Skynyrd , whose 2003 touring schedule was punctuated by numerous cancellations and postponements due to guitarist Gary Rosington's health problems, makes up for lost time during a new string of winter dates.
The Southern rockers have lined up a round of dates that kicks off at the end of January, and shows so far are scheduled into late February. Most dates are set in the western U.S.
Skynyrd continues to back its May release, "Vicious Cycle," which is the group's first new studio set in four years. The veteran rock outfit is also supporting its new live DVD, "Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyve: The Vicious Cycle Tour, Celebrating 30 Years of Rock 'N Roll." The video, which surfaced in November, captures the group's July 11 performance at the AmSouth Amphitheatre near Nashville.
Earlier this year, Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to cancel most of its planned co-headlining dates with Sammy Hagar after Rossington--who underwent quintuple-bypass surgery in February--was diagnosed in late July with what doctors first diagnosed as "medical fatigue," but later determined was a mild seizure.
The group had planned to resume touring in mid-September, but pushed things back until the beginning of October after doctors advised Rossington to continue resting at home.
