Bette Midler rolls out additional Kiss My Brass dates
Entertainer Bette Midler --whose Kiss My Brass tour takes to the road later this month--has confirmed a new batch of dates that will keep the tour rolling into March.
The outing, Midler's first tour in more than four years, supports her new album, "Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook."
"I have loved Rosemary Clooney for as long as I can remember," Midler wrote in her album notes. "She possessed one of the great American voices of the last century, full of warmth, sincerity and truth. Her intonation was impeccable, she never sang a false note ... she radiated intelligence and good humor, and boy, could she swing!"
Streaming samples of all 11 tracks on "Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook" are posted at Midler's website.
Singer-songwriter Barry Manilow co-produced the tribute to the late singer with Robbie Buchanan. Manilow, who was Midler's original piano player and musical director, produced her first two albums: "The Divine Miss M" (1972) and "Bette Midler" (1973).
Midler, who celebrated her 59th birthday on Dec. 1, is scheduled to appear on the A&E cable network special "A Barry Manilow Christmas: Live By Request" on Friday (12/5).
