Alicia Keys gears up for album release, plans intimate show

Alicia Keys heralds the arrival of her sophomore album with numerous television appearances, a concert webcast and a private show for a limited number of fans.

"The Diary of Alicia Keys"--the follow-up to Keys' multi-platinum debut "Songs in A Minor"--lands in stores on Tuesday (12/2). On the eve of the album's release, Keys is due to give a live performance at New York City's Webster Hall. America Online will air the event live on "AOL Broadband Rocks!," an online program available to AOL subscribers. The show takes place at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Dec. 1.

A limited number of fans who pre-order "The Diary of Alicia Keys" at select New York-area record stores will receive a free ticket to attend the concert in person. (A list of participating record stores appears below.) New York radio station Hot 97 is also giving away tickets to the show. Details are posted at the station's website.

Other promotional activity surrounding the album's release includes Keys' appearances on BET's "Studio to Stage" tonight (11/26); "Good Morning America" on Thanksgiving (11/27) and again on Dec. 2; "Oprah" on Dec. 1; BET's "Blueprint" and MTV's "TRL" on Dec. 2; "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Dec. 4-5; and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Dec. 8.

Keys' official website features the music video for "You Don't Know My Name," the first single from "The Diary of Alicia Keys."
