Korn announces free surprise concert in New York City
Korn , whose new album surfaced on Friday (11/21), will play a surprise club show in New York City tonight (11/24).
In an email announcement sent to the group's mailing list late this afternoon, Korn said that it is giving a free show at New York's famous CBGB. Fans will be admitted for free on a first-come, first-served basis.
The announcement also suggested that fans who can't get into the venue may still get to have an encounter with the band.
"It's for the fans--so even if you don't make it in--hang around this afternoon for a chance to meet Korn," reads the message.
The show helps to launch the band's latest studio set, "Take a Look in the Mirror." The album was originally slated for release on Tuesday (11/25), but the group pushed the release-date ahead to Friday (11/21) in response to news that the new material had already surfaced on the Internet.
The band announced the change just three days prior to the new release date, which apparently didn't give some retailers time to properly stock the album. According to a press release that the band issued on Monday (11/24), "plant delays, wrong deliveries and other problems have plagued the rush release" of "Take a Look in the Mirror."
The press release went on to say that "some retailers are unsure if their shipments have arrived and are searching their storerooms to accommodate Korn fans who are heading into stores to get a copy of the CD," and that "Epic/Immortal Records is working with the plants and delivery services to ensure that records are getting into stores as quickly as possible."
Korn is in the midst of a co-headlining theater tour with Limp Bizkit. The outing resumes on Tuesday (11/25).
