Illness forces Christina Aguilera to pull the plug on U.K. shows

Singer Christina Aguilera has canceled the last two concerts of her U.K. tour due to illness.

Aguilera was due to wrap up the jaunt with a Monday (11/10) show at Telewest Arena in Newcastle and a Tuesday (11/11) performance at Evening News Arena in Manchester, but has scrapped both shows because of a bout of "acute bronchitis," according to organizers.

Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

An Associated Press report quoted the singer as saying that she was "terribly sorry for any inconvenience caused, but my doctor has ordered me to my bed and told me I cannot perform for at least 10 days."

Aguilera is in the midst of a lengthy world tour that supports last year's "Stripped." Her next concert is scheduled for Dec. 1 in Tokyo, which is the first date of a three-night stand in the city. An Australian leg follows from Dec. 8-17.

Last Thursday (11/6), Aguilera hosted the MTV Europe Awards. While there, she also performed, and picked up the trophy for Best Female.
