Death Cab for Cutie and Nada Surf hook up for fall tour
Death Cab for Cutie back their recently released album with a fall tour that features fellow indie-rock vets Nada Surf in the opening slot.
The two bands join forces in New Orleans on Saturday (11/8) for a two-week run that focuses on the West and wraps up with a two-night stand in Seattle.
"Transatlanticism," Death Cab for Cutie's latest album, hit stores in early October. The set, which is the follow-up to 2001's "The Photo Album," includes the tracks "The New Year" and "Title and Registration." Both songs are available as free MP3 downloads from Barsuk Records' website.
Nada Surf's most-recent album is last year's "Let Go." Barsuk's site features free downloads of three songs from that collection: "Inside of Love," "Blonde on Blonde" and "The Way You Wear Your Head."
While Nada Surf tours and works out material for its next set, Barsuk has mined the band's back catalog; the label reissued the trio's 1999 release, "The Proximity Effect," in September. The updated version features two bonus tracks--"Silent Fighting" and "Spooky"--as well as the video for the cut "Firecracker" and a virtual tour of the band's studio.
