Michelle Branch heads to the West for more headlining shows
Singer-songwriter Michelle Branch follows her October run through the East with a new batch of shows in the western U.S. and Canada.
Branch wrapped up the latest leg of her North American trek in Oshkosh, WI, on Wednesday (10/29), and heads to Japan for a handful of early November shows before kicking off the new round of North American shows mid-month.
The outing is part of Branch's ongoing support for her sophomore set, "Hotel Paper," which surfaced in June and peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The album's hit-single, "Are You Happy Now?" has been riding Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart for more than 20 weeks, and currently sits at No. 16.
"Hotel Paper" is the follow-up to Branch's 2001 debut, "The Spirit Room," which has sold more than 2.5 million copies, according to a press release.
Now 20 years old, Branch hopes that people will focus more on her music than on her age; much of the media attention that she received after releasing "The Spirit Room" focused on the fact that she was, at that time, still in her teens.
"I never asked for comparisons to other artists nor did I expect outstanding reviews," she said in a statement. "I did, however, demand a fair and honest critique of my work and that simply never happened. Hotel Paper guarantees that my growth as an artist will overshadow non-related questions that followed me last time around. Don't ask: I'm 20 years old now!"
