Briefly: The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, CMA Awards, Mike Smith, Hilary Duff
The Rolling Stones have given up--for now--their plans to play two shows in mainland China.
According to a statement, organizing concerts in Beijing and Shanghai was "far more complicated and difficult than expected," but "the band looks forward to playing concerts in these cities in the future."
The Stones are scheduled to play their first-ever concerts in Hong Kong on Nov. 7 and 9, and had hoped to follow up with the mainland China shows.
Actor Tim Robbins will host the CMT special "Johnny Cash Memorial Tribute: A Celebration of Friends and Family," which airs on Nov. 15.
The show will be taped during a Nov. 10 memorial concert for Cash at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, featuring performances by Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, George Jones, Travis Tritt, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Rodney Crowell, Marty Stuart, Jack Clement, Steve Earle, Larry Gatlin, John Mellencamp, Dwight Yoakam and Jimmy Tittle.
This year's Country Music Association Awards will include a tribute to Johnny Cash, featuring Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Travis Tritt and Hank Williams Jr.
The CMA Awards will be handed out on Nov. 5 at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House during a ceremony to be broadcast live on CBS-TV.
Mike Smith, best known as the singer for British Invasion act The Dave Clark Five , has been hospitalized in London for more than a month, recovering from a fall. According to British press reports, Smith--who suffered spinal cord injuries--is paralyzed from the waist down, and cannot move his right arm. He reportedly has limited use of his left arm.
"All Access Pass," Hilary Duff 's first music DVD, is set for release on Nov. 4. It features three tracks from her recent studio album "Metamorphosis," as well as acoustic versions of "So Yesterday" and "Little Voice" from her "Sessions @ AOL" appearance.
It also features "making of" segments for the videos, footage from recording sessions, and a gallery of photos and videos from her personal family archives, according to a press release.
