Obie Trice packs up rhymes for inaugural headlining run

Obie Trice follows his opening stint for fellow Detroit rapper 50 Cent by stepping out on his own headlining club tour.

After warming up the crowd for 50 Cent at a pair of late-October shows, and giving a Halloween performance at New Orleans' Voodoo Music Experience festival, Trice kicks off the club outing in Atlanta on Nov. 3. Dates so far run until mid-month, and include stops at several House of Blues venues.

Trice is supporting his debut album, "Cheers," which surfaced on Eminem 's Shady Records in late September. The set features the hit single "Got Some Teeth," which has been riding Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart for seven weeks; the song sits at No. 16 on the latest chart.

Eminem fans will likely recognize Trice's name from "Without Me," the runaway hit from last year's "The Eminem Show." During the song's opening, Trice is heard saying, "Obie Trice, real name, no gimmicks."

During a recent interview with liveDaily, Trice had nothing but praise for Eminem and his involvement as executive producer of "Cheers."

"He was a good producer to work with, a brilliant dude," Trice said. "He ain't an artist that doesn't let you be your own individual and say, 'Make this kind of record,' or 'Do this type of song.' It was all on me. I enjoyed it."

Trice's website is streaming "Got Some Teeth," as well as five other "Cheers" tracks.
