Briefly: Rage Against the Machine, Napster, 3 Doors Down, Tupac Shakur

Rage Against the Machine's final shows--which took place at Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sept. 18 and 19, 2000--are set for release on CD and DVD in the coming weeks.

The 16-track live CD is scheduled to hit stores on Nov. 25. The DVD--which includes performances of 18 songs at the Olympic Auditorium, plus six songs recorded during the band's performance outside the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles--will be released on Dec. 9.

An Oct. 29 celebration of the re-birth of Napster as a legal music-download site will feature performances by Ludacris , Dashboard Confessional, Interpol and Metric, as well as DJ Melo-D.

The show takes place at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. According to a press release, "hundreds of music fans will receive free tickets to the exclusive event through local radio stations and fan-site giveaways this week."

Napster, the former file-swapping network, was shut down two years ago in the wake of a flurry of lawsuits. The new Napster will charge customers 99 cents to download a single song and $9.95 to download a full album.

"Another 100 Miles," a live EP from rockers 3 Doors Down , is scheduled for release on Nov. 11. It includes in-concert renditions of the group's hits "Kryptonite," "Duck & Run," "When I'm Gone" and "Here Without You," as well as the new song "It's Not Me" and a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "That Smell."

The soundtrack to the upcoming biographical Tupac Shakur film "Tupac Resurrection" is set to hit stores on Nov. 11. Four of the album's tracks are previously unreleased, including the first single, "Runnin' (Dying To Live)," which features verses from Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. The song was produced by Eminem , and samples the 1971 Edgar Winter song "Dying to Live."
