Hilary Duff makes the jump from screen to stage on fall tour

Teen actress/singer Hilary Duff gives life on the road a try with a series of late-fall concerts that back her debut album.

So far, Duff has scheduled a string of dates that kicks off in mid-November and run through the end of the month.

Duff released her first album of original material, "Metamorphosis," in late August. The set, which spawned the No. 1 hit "So Yesterday," debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and rose to No. 1 during its second week out.

Duff hopes the album will help fans separate her true identity from the character she portrayed in the popular Disney television series, "Lizzie McGuire."

"We called the album 'Metamorphosis' because it's about changes that everybody experiences," she said in a statement. "It's not just about me, but it is very personal. The change might seem a little sudden because most people are used to seeing me as a character through Lizzie McGuire and movie roles that I played. So this music is a good way to get everyone to know the real me. Everyone evolves and changes."

This spring, Disney released its motion-picture version of "Lizzie McGuire," in which Duff's character travels abroad and is mistaken for a famous singer. Duff also co-starred in this summer's "Agent Cody Banks."

Duff made her singing debut on the 2002 "Lizzie McGuire" television-show soundtrack, for which she cut the single "I Can't Wait." She also released a collection of holiday covers later that same year.
