Sarah Brightman plots massive 2004 North American tour
Singer Sarah Brightman keeps busy in early 2004 with a tightly packed schedule of North American tour dates that support her latest album, "Harem."
Brightman launches the run with a Jan. 10 show in Mexico City, then turns her attention to the U.S. and Canada for a stretch of shows that extends into mid-March.
Fans who registered at Brightman's website before noon Eastern Time on Thursday (10/16) are able to participate in a ticket pre-sale the starts on Friday. Two more rounds of pre-sales are planned for fans who register by 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday (10/19) or by 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday (10/22).
Tickets for a number of shows then go on sale to the general public on Oct. 24 and 25, with subsequent on-sale dates planned throughout November and December. Details are shown below.
Known for her extravagant stage productions, Brightman plans to bring along 24 band members and 10 back-up singers and dancers for the run, and said while announcing the tour in Toronto on Thursday (10/16) that the production will "have a contemporary Arabian Nights feel about it."
That feel will be in keeping with the theme of "Harem," which Brightman issued in June, and discussed in a recent press release.
"I wanted to record an album with a Middle Eastern feel," she said. "It just felt like the right way to go; just a feeling at first, which is how I begin all my albums. I have always loved that whole Arabian Nights feeling."
Brightman rose to fame for her lead role in ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway production "Phantom of the Opera." She launched her solo-recording career in the late '80s, and has sold more than 15 million albums to date, according to Angel Records.
