Godsmack fleshes out more tour dates as EP remains in limbo
Though their plans to release an acoustic EP later this year are now uncertain, Boston rockers Godsmack have extended their fall itinerary into late November.
Sandwiched between the group's October and November headlining dates is a Halloween performance at the Voodoo Music Experience festival in New Orleans, a three-day event that also features Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, 50 Cent, Marilyn Manson and fellow Boston-based rock outfit, Staind.
The group's road work supports its most recent album, "Faceless," which arrived in stores in April and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 Album chart. The set includes the group's latest hit, "Serenity."
Godsmack recorded acoustic versions of "Serenity" and seven other songs during sessions in Hawaii this summer with producer David Bottrill. A tentative Nov. 18 release date is set, but plans for the album may change before then, according to the group's management.
Earlier this year, Erna said in a statement that the acoustic EP--which features stripped down versions of some of the group's hits, as well as several new cuts--grew out of the band's penchant for performing some acoustic numbers during its live performances.
"We decided to do an acoustic record because we have always messed around with acoustic versions of our music and gotten great reactions to it," he said. "Reworking the songs this way shows a different side of the band."
