Duran Duran mounts 25th anniversary tour, releases DVD
Duran Duran --whose five original members reunited this year after splintering 18 years ago--sets out next month on an anniversary run that coincides with the release of a new DVD set.
The group launches the outing in Atlantic City on Nov. 8, and shows are set through the end of the month. Tickets hit the box office on Oct. 18, but a pre-sale for Duran Duran fan club members and Discover Card holders will take place on Oct. 14 and 15, according to organizers. More information is available at the band's website.
In addition to its arsenal of '80s-era hits, Duran Duran's set list during the tour will also include new songs that will appear on the group's forthcoming album, due out next year. Such tracks include "the guitar-drive, edgy, up-tempo 'Virus,' which will appeal to fans of the band's harder rocking side; signature Duran-sounding pop anthem 'Beautiful Colors'; and the poignant, thought-provoking 'What Happens Tomorrow,'" according to a press release.
On Nov. 4, Capitol Records releases "Greatest," a two-DVD video-anthology that comprises all of the group's music videos, including "Girls On Film," "Rio," "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Ordinary World." The set also includes interviews, as well as uncensored and alternate versions of some videos.
In August, Duran Duran received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
Before mounting a reunion tour this summer, John Taylor (bass), Nick Rhodes (keyboards) Simon Le Bon (vocals) Andy Taylor (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) hadn't hit the stage together since 1985's Live Aid, according to the group's publicist.
