Briefly: P.O.D., Jane's Addiction, DMX, Tim McGraw, The Bottom Line
P.O.D. issues the follow-up to its triple-platinum 2001 release, "Satellite," on Nov. 4, according to Atlantic Records.
The new set, titled "Payable on Death," was produced by P.O.D. and longtime studio collaborator Howard Benson. First single "Will You" is getting heavy airplay on rock radio, and a companion video directed by Marc Webb (Good Charlotte, AFI) is currently in production.
P.O.D. is planning "a full-scale global tour to begin in early 2004," according to Atlantic.
"Three Days," a Jane's Addiction documentary that played at various 1999 film festivals but was never officially released, will be issued on DVD on Oct. 7.
The film, directed by Carter Smith and Kevin Ford, follows the band on and off stage during its 1997 tour.
"Grand Champ," which rapper DMX says will be his last LP, debuts at No. 1 on the upcoming Billboard 200 album chart, making DMX the first artist in the chart's history to hit No. 1 with his first five albums, according to Billboard.com.
The album sold 312,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to industry sources.
A Perfect Circle's "Thirteenth Step" sold 231,000 copies during its debut week, and enters the chart at No. 2. Erykah Badu's "World Wide Underground" enters at No. 3.
Last week's No. 1 album, John Mayer's "Heavier Things," falls to No. 4.
Tim McGraw 's recent "One Band Show" tour raised $43,000 for Red Cross chapters along the tour's route, according to his publicist. The chapters will use the donations for disaster relief and to promote emergency preparedness.
The satellite radio network Sirius has agreed to pay the back rent for New York's The Bottom Line nightclub, as long as the club can work out a deal with its landlord, New York University, within the next month, Newsday reported.
The university had sued the venue for $185,000 in back rent, but is said to be willing to make a deal.
Sirius reportedly hopes to broadcast three live shows a week from the venue.
