Korn sets release date for new album, lines up first single

Metal quintet Korn plans to issue its sixth album in November, less than a year-and-a-half after its previous set, "Untouchables," landed in stores.

The group has nailed down a Nov. 18 release date for the new collection, titled "Take a Look In the Mirror." Its first single, "Right Now," hits radio stations early next month, according to the group's publicist.

Recorded at frontman Jonathan Davis' Elementree Studios, "Take a Look In the Mirror" is the group's first self-produced album.

"I'm very happy with it because we didn't have anybody telling us what to do, which is how we started out," Davis said in a statement. "It's totally come full circle."

Davis took an unorthodox approach to writing material for the album; armed with the initial instrumental tracks, the singer hit the road in a tour bus for a cross-country trip, during which he wrote lyrics and melodies.

"I can really open up and look inside myself when I get out of my home element," Davis said. "Being on the road helps."

Korn continued its mobile approach to creating the new set while on the Ozzfest tour this summer, thanks to a studio built inside Davis' tour bus.

In addition to "Right Now," "Take a Look in the Mirror" also features "Did My Time," a track that turned up earlier this year in the film "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life." Though the band released a music video for the cut--which they filmed with "Tomb Raider" star Angelina Jolie--the song is not included on the soundtrack CD.

Korn has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, according to a press release. The group has scored two GRAMMY® awards to date, including Best Metal Performance for "Here to Stay," a cut housed on "Untouchables."
