Briefly: John Mayer, Elvis Presley, Dixie Chicks, 'Acoustic Christmas,' Sheb Wooley

"Heavier Things," the latest album from singer/songwriter John Mayer, sold about 316,500 copies during its first week in stores, and will make its chart debut at No. 1, according to industry sources.

Hilary Duff 's "Metamorphosis," which sold about 107,000 copies over the last week, falls from No. 1 to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart, while Seal's "IV" clocks in at No. 3.

Paul Oakenfold's remix of Elvis Presley 's "Rubberneckin'" was the top-selling single of the last week, according to RCA Records. The track will appear on the forthcoming Presley best-of set "Elvis 2nd to None," due on Oct. 7.

The U.S. premiere of the new Dixie Chicks music video "Top of the World" debuts Monday (9/22) on VH1, following the premiere of "VH1 All Access Spotlight: The Dixie Chicks."

"All Access" features backstage footage from the Dixie Chicks' latest tour, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the video shoot for "Top of the World." The new video was shot in London, and directed by Sophie Muller.

Lost Highway Records releases the compilation album "A Very Special Acoustic Christmas" on Oct. 14, the proceeds from which will benefit Special Olympics.

Among the acts who contribute tracks are Alison Krauss ("Only You Can Bring Me Cheer"), Reba McEntire ("Silent Night"), Alan Jackson ("Just Put a Ribbon in Your Hair"), Patty Loveless ("O Come All Ye Faithful") and Wynonna Judd ("O Holy Night").

Actor-musician Sheb Wooley , 82, an actor who starred in "High Noon" and other Westerns, and also scored a 1958 hit with the novelty song "The Purple People Eater," died on Tuesday (9/16) in Nashville.
