Less Than Jake sets sights on fall headlining run

After serving time on this summer's Vans Warped Tour, Less Than Jake breaks out with a fall swing on the U.S. club circuit.

The ska-punk group has so far confirmed a month of dates that kick off in early November. The itinerary will continue to grow, according to the group's website.

The outing is part of the Gainesville, FL-based group's support for its May release, "Anthem." The set features the cuts "She's Gonna Break Soon" and latest single "The Science of Selling Yourself Short." The music videos for both tracks are streaming at the band's website.

Tom Lord-Alge--known for his work with acts such as Blink-182, Fuel and Billy Joel--mixed "Anthem." Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie (the band's members only use their first names) described the mixing process in a message posted at the "Anthem" website.

"Most people don't realize this, but the mixing process is one part listening and one million parts sitting around wishing that you can just hear the damn song already," he wrote. "For the most part, I just walk around for a few hours and come back to the studio. Then, all of us listen to the track [Lord-Alge] mixed, and make our round of comments like 'more snare ... ,' 'less effects ... ,' 'turn the bass up,' and my ever classic ' ... your mother thinks the song sounds good.'"

Vinnie also described his post-mixing litmus test for the album.

"I put it in my car stereo and drive around Gainesville, I sing along, spazz out, and air drum along the interstate and back roads of 'the ville' for hours at a time. I love this record."
