The late Johnny Cash 's family and friends are asking that remembrances for the country legend be sent to SOS Children's Villages-USA, a charity that supports orphaned and abandoned children, according to a press release.
Donations can be made via a link at the organization's website.
Cash died last week at the age of 71.
Gerry Marsden, lead singer of '60s group Gerry and the Pacemakers, underwent triple heart-bypass surgery in Liverpool, England on Monday (9/16), according to British press reports. He is said to be recovering well.
Dido launches her sophomore album, "Life for Rent"--due for release in the U.S. on Sept. 30--with a long list of promotional appearances.
On Sept. 29 at 8 a.m. in London, she precedes an album-signing session by performing four songs from the album at the Virgin Megastores Oxford Street outlet. Later that day, she does the same in New York City at the Virgin Megastores Union Square location.
On Sept. 30, she appears on CBS-TV's "The Late Show with David Letterman." Appearances on "Good Morning America," "Live with Regis & Kelly," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" and the new "Ellen Show" starring Ellen DeGeneres are also planned for the following days.
A deluxe edition of The Allman Brothers Band 's 1971 live album "At the Fillmore East" is set for release on Sept. 23. It features six tracks that didn't appear on the original album.
The guitar that George Harrison played during The Beatles' last public appearance (atop the roof of London's Apple Records, and filmed for the movie "Let It Be") sold at auction on Saturday (9/13) for $434,750.
An "anonymous West Coast collector" purchased the Fender Rosewood Telecaster that was used in the Jan. 30, 1969, performance, according to Odyssey Auctions.
