No one act will dominate this year's edition of the American Music Awards. In fact, no act is nominated for more than a pair of trophies.

Several artists are up for two awards, though, including Celine Dion [ tickets ], Norah Jones, R. Kelly [ tickets ], Luther Vandross [ tickets ], Ashanti, Beyonce, Shania Twain [ tickets ], Sean Paul, Missy Elliott and Sean Paul.

The 31st annual American Music Awards ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and airs live on ABC-TV from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Nov. 16.

According to organizers, nominations are based on sales and radio play. A survey of about 20,000 music fans determines the winners.
