Red Hot Chili Peppers spice things up with more tour dates
Concert dates continue to surface for The Red Hot Chili Peppers ' world tour in support of last year's "By the Way."
The group, which launches another round of shows on Saturday (9/6), has added a new batch of stops that stretch into late October. Members of the band's fan club will have a shot at tickets before the public on-sale, according to the group's website.
Mike Watt and the Flaming Lips will open the newly announced October U.S. shows; Watt will also open the group's Canadian stops, as will an additional yet-to-be named act.
As previously reported, Queens of the Stone Age and French Toast open during the September shows.
"By the Way," the Chili Peppers' eighth studio album, surfaced in July of 2002. The set features the singles "Can't Stop," "Zephyr" and the title track.
The album has spent 59 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart, on which it currently sits at No. 165.
Earlier this summer, bassist Flea said that the group was using its down time to "write and record two or three new songs for a greatest hits record to come out at a future date."
