Good Charlotte hits the road with moonman in tow

Good Charlotte , which last week scored a Viewer's Choice trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards, sets out in mid-September on a fall tour of U.S. arenas.

The group will warm up for the Sept. 18 launch of its headlining run with a Sept. 4 performance at the National Mall in Washington, DC. There, the band will share the stage with Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears and others as part of "NFL Kickoff Live," a one-hour concert that precedes that night's season-opening football game between the Washington Redskins and the New York Jets. ABC will air the event live from 8 p.m.-9 p.m. Eastern Time.

Opening for Good Charlotte during the group's headlining dates are Something Corporate (Sept. 18-Oct. 19), The Living End (Sept. 18-Oct. 7), Mest (Oct. 8-Oct. 26), Goldfinger (Oct. 25-Nov. 11) and Eve 6 (Oct. 31-Nov. 11).

The fall outing is Good Charlotte's latest round of shows in support of last year's "The Young and the Hopeless." The platinum-certified album has spawned the hits "The Anthem," "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" and "Girls & Boys."

Last Thursday (8/28), the group performed "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" during the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony. Later that night, the song's music video scored the fan-determined Viewer's Choice award, one of three categories in which the clip was nominated.

In June, Good Charlotte picked up the People's Choice Award for Favorite International Group at Canada's MuchMusic Video Awards.
