KISS and Aerosmith shuffle concerts due to blackout
KISS and Aerosmith , who weren't able to play their Aug. 15 show at Detroit's Comerica Park because of last week's massive blackout, have rescheduled that concert, and shuffled a handful of others.
The Detroit show is now scheduled to take place on Sept. 7, and additional tweaking moves the tour's Nashville-area show from Sept. 23 to Sept. 22; the Kansas City-area show from Sept. 25 to Sept. 24, the Chicago-area show from Sept. 5 to Sept. 26; and the St. Louis-area show from Sept. 27 to Sept. 28. Tickets for the original performances will be honored on the respective make-up dates.
In addition to shuffling the already-scheduled stops, the rock juggernauts have also added to their plans a late-October two-night stand in Las Vegas.
KISS, which earlier this year cut a deal with Sanctuary Records to launch a new imprint dubbed KISS Records, released on July 22 a two-disc live set titled "The KISS Symphony: Alive IV," which the group recorded during its Feb. 28 performance with Australia's Melbourne Orchestra. A two-DVD video of the concert hits stores on Sept. 9.
Aerosmith, whose most-recent studio set is 2001's "Just Push Play," has been working on a blues-covers album that it plans to release early next year.
The KISS-Aerosmith outing may or may not be the last chance fans will have to see KISS live; in early 2000, the band set out on what it said at the time would be its final tour. Since then, the quartet has continued to tour on and off.
The group's lineup currently features founding members Gene Simmons (vocals, bass) Paul Stanley (vocals, guitar) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Guitarist Tommy Thayer rounds out the roster; he has replaced original guitarist Ace Frehley, and wears Frehley's signature make-up and costumes during the band's live performances.
Frehley recently announced that, because he assumed that KISS's Farewell Tour--which he participated in--was truly the group's swan song, he subsequently built a state-of-the-art recording studio and began work on his next solo album.
