Alice Cooper scares up new album, fall tour dates
Seasoned rocker Alice Cooper delivers his latest album in September, just a few days before he launches a fall road trip to back the set.
Only a handful of September and October dates have surfaced so far, beginning with a Sept. 27 engagement in Mississippi. That show follows the Sept. 23 release of "The Eyes of Alice Cooper."
Cooper, under the guidance of producer Mudrock (Godsmack, Powerman 5000), recorded the new set "in a minimalist garage-like studio setting," according to a press release. All of the musicians recorded their parts simultaneously, and were allowed only a minimal amount of overdubbing. MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer makes a guest appearance on the album's opening cut, "Detroit City."
Cooper co-wrote all 13 of the album's tracks with guitarists Eric Dover and Ryan Roxie. Cooper's band also features drummer Eric Singer, bassist Chuck Garric and keyboardist Teddy "ZigZag" Andreadis.
The group got a chance to warm up for the upcoming road trip during this summer's month-long "Bare Bones Tour." As was the case during that run, Andreadis will not be joining the group for the fall outing; according to management, Cooper "is enjoying the sound of the band this way at this time," and added that Cooper "still loves working with Andreadis."
