Maroon 5 maps out ambitious fall tour plans
Los Angeles rock act Maroon 5 continues its support behind last year's "Songs About Jane" with a fall headlining run through North America.
The outing kicks off on the West Coast in late September, and the tightly packed itinerary stretches well into November. Gavin DeGraw opens on all dates, while Marc Broussard, Michael Tolcher and Big City Rock rotate through the tour's second support slot.
Broussard appears from the Sept. 24 kick-off through Oct. 24, Tolcher takes over from Oct. 26 through Nov. 17, and Big City Rock signs on for the remaining shows.
"Songs About Jane," Maroon 5's debut album, surfaced on Octone Records in June of 2002. The set includes the cuts "Harder to Breathe" and "Tangled," which are available at Maroon 5's website as free mp3 downloads. The site also features streaming versions of the "Harder to Breathe" music video, and the group's live performances of the song on "Last Call with Carson Daly" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn."
Maroon 5 members Adam Levine (vocals, guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), Mickey Madden (bass) and Ryan Dusick (drums) originally made a name for themselves in the mid-'90s as a rock quartet dubbed Kara's Flowers. The group issued one album titled "The Fourth World" on Reprise Records in 1997. After leaving the label in 1999, they added second guitarist James Valentine to their lineup, and named the resulting quintet Maroon 5.
Singer-songwriter DeGraw's debut set, "Chariot," landed in stores on July 22. Broussard's debut album, titled "Momentary Setback," surfaced on Tuesday (7/29). Tolcher recently finished recording his debut album, but no release date has been set. Big City Rock released its second self-titled EP on June 24.
