Pennywise launches new album with club dates
Punk rockers Pennywise mark the September release of their latest album with a half-dozen club shows set in their native Southern California stomping ground.
Currently on the road as part of this year's Vans Warped Tour, the group has lined September two-night stands at the House of Blues clubs in West Hollywood (9/8, 9/9) and Anaheim (9/10, 9/11), and at the Glass House in Pomona (9/14, 9/15). Tickets are only being sold online, according to Epitaph Records. More information is posted at the label's website.
The band's post-Warped Tour schedule also includes a Sept. 5 performance at the San Diego Street Scene festival and a Sept. 18 set at the Reno Livestock Center in Nevada.
The tour dates support the group's new album "From the Ashes," which hits stores on Sept. 9. The 14-track set deals with some heady subject matter, according to a message that the band recently posted on Epitaph's website.
"Some songs are about the aftermath of 9/11 and politics in the world today, but there are also songs about moving forward and trying to find a place for hope in a world that seems increasingly forbidding."
The enhanced "From the Ashes" CD will contain video footage of the group recording the album, a live song from the group's 2002 performance at the Long Beach Arena, interviews with the band and a trailer for its forthcoming "Home Movies, Part Two" DVD, which the group plans to release "soon."
The complete track listing for "From the Ashes" is posted at Epitaph's website.
