Briefly: The White Stripes, Gloria Estefan, Amy Grant, Nelly Furtado, The Sex Pistols
The White Stripes have pulled out of scheduled appearances at Scotland's T in the Park and Ireland's Witness festival because frontman-guitarist Jack White broke an index finger in a car accident on Wednesday (7/9).
The Flaming Lips will replace The White Stripes on both bills.
There was no immediate word as to the extent of White's injury, or whether it might put The White Stripes' upcoming U.S. tour in jeopardy.
Gloria Estefan is scheduled to play seven shows from Oct. 10-19 at the Colosseum, a venue that was built at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to house Celine Dion's production.
Dion wrapped up her first run of dates at the venue on July 6, after a string of 65 sold-out performances. Her three-year engagement at Caesars Palace resumes on Aug. 6.
"Simple Things," Amy Grant 's first pop album in six years, hits stores on April 19, according to A&M Records.
Grant wrote or co-wrote eight of the album's 10 tracks, and the set was put together over the last three years. She teams with her husband, Vince Gill, on the duet "Beautiful."
Nelly Furtado and producers Track and Field (Gerald Eaton and Brian West) recently moved from a Los Angeles studio to a Canadian studio to put the finishing touches on Furtado's sophomore release, according to DreamWorks records. The album is scheduled for release on Nov. 25.
John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten told RollingStone.com that The Sex Pistols hope to play a benefit concert in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
"If the people of Iraq are being offered democracy," Lydon reportedly said, "then they should understand it to its fullest extent, and that is The Sex Pistols."
