John Mellencamp revs promotional engines for 'Trouble No More'
John Mellencamp is scheduled to perform July concerts in Los Angeles and New York City to back his recently released blues album, "Trouble No More."
Mellencamp's website describes the shows as "special concerts" where he and his band will perform songs from the new album, which has been the top-selling blues album in the U.S. since it hit stores in June.
The first show, for which tickets go on sale on Sunday (7/13), is set for July 29 at Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The second takes place on July 31 at New York's Town Hall, and tickets hit the market on Friday (7/11). Tickets for both shows will be offered to Mellencamp.com readers through an exclusive presale on Thursday (7/10) and Friday; details are available at the site.
Mellencamp is also scheduled to perform an Aug. 2 show in the living room of Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion in Memphis. The show will be taped for AOL's online music series "Sessions@AOL," but its broadcast date hasn't been announced. One grand-prize winner will win a trip for two to Graceland for the performance, according to Mellencamp's website.
On July 28, Mellencamp will perform on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
"Trouble No More" features 11 cover songs and one original. Among the acts whose material Mellencamp covers are Robert Johnson , Woody Guthrie , Willie Dixon , Hoagy Carmichael and Lucinda Williams.
The original Mellencamp composition, "To Washington," is an anti-war anthem that was first heard earlier this year via his website.
