Aerosmith and KISS gear up for August tour launch
Aerosmith and KISS continue to firm the itinerary for their fast-approaching co-headlining tour, which is scheduled to run from August through October.
Among the recent additions to their calendar is an Oct. 14 stop in the Sacramento, CA, area. As a result, a show that was previously scheduled to take place in the San Diego area on the same date has been pushed back to Oct. 16. The confirmed itinerary as of press time is shown below.
Though tickets for most dates have already hit the market, public on-sales for at least five shows--in the West Palm Beach, FL; Kansas City; Denver; Phoenix; and San Bernardino, CA regions-- are scheduled to begin on Saturday (7/12), according to promoters. Tickets for the Sacramento-area show go on sale on July 19.
The KISS and Aerosmith online fan-clubs are still offering pre-sale tickets and premium ticketing packages for some shows; details are available at the official KISS and Aerosmith websites.
Rolling Stone recently reported that Aerosmith, whose most-recent studio set is 2001's "Just Push Play," will release a blues-covers album in January. Among the standards the band reportedly recorded for the set--which was produced by Jack Douglas ("Toys in the Attic")--are "I'm Ready," "Roadrunner" and "Baby, Please Don't Go."
KISS, meanwhile, recently cut a deal with Sanctuary Records to launch a new imprint dubbed KISS Records, and plans to christen the label with the July 22 release of a two-disc live set titled "The KISS Symphony: Alive IV," which was recorded during the band's Feb. 28 performance with Australia's Melbourne Orchestra.
The tour with Aerosmith may or may not be the last chance fans will have to see KISS live; in early 2000, the band announced what it said at the time would be its final tour. Since then, the quartet has continued to tour on and off, and has backed off on its "final tour" claims.
In addition to Simmons, the KISS lineup currently features fellow founding members Paul Stanley (vocals, guitar) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Guitarist Tommy Thayer rounds out the roster; he has replaced original guitarist Ace Frehley, and wears Frehley's signature make-up and costumes during the band's live performances.
